About Canadian Peacemakers International

Committed to nonviolent peace-building and sustainable community development since 2009

Our Mission

Canadian Peacemakers International partners with individuals and local communities facing violence and poverty to enhance access to appropriate education, foster personal peace-leadership, improve food security, and create economic opportunities that lead to self-sufficiency. We believe in community-driven solutions that respect local knowledge and empower people to build their own futures.

Our Vision

We envision a world where all people in violence-affected, impoverished, and underdeveloped communities can live in dignity, security, and well-being. Where access to education is universal, peace is cultivated from within, and economic opportunities allow communities to thrive sustainably for generations to come.

Our Core Values

Justice and Peace

At CPI, we are commitment to fairness, reconciliation, and peaceful resolution of conflict in line with both ethical – spiritual teachings and human rights. Hence, we support for peace education, conflict mediation, and justice-based policies within partner communities.

Missional Servant Leadership

Ours is to affirm leadership expressed through purposeful service, modeled on the example of Christ and other servant-leaders. Our programs are community-led, leadership is participatory, and development projects empower rather than impose.

Dignity and Respect for All

Every one is made in the image of God and deserves respect, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic background. We promote inclusive education, community engagement, and peacemaking that affirms each person’s worth.

Holistic Empowerment

At CPI, we empower individuals and communities socially, economically and spiritually for long-term sustainability. Our understanding is that education access is also about life skills, vocational training, and spiritual formation for the right leadership.

Innovation Rooted in Context

Creativity and innovation are essential, but must be culturally appropriate and rooted in local knowledge and wisdom. Consequently, we advance development initiatives that are co-designed with local leaders and reflect African contexts.

Partnership & Collaboration

We place great value in relationships and mutual accountability among local faith-based NGOs, governments, and community stakeholders. We operate in collaboration, fostering strong North-South and South-South partnerships.

Stewardship & Accountability

We institutionalize responsible management of resources, finances, and relationships as a form of truth and trust. We embody transparent reporting, ethical fundraising, and effective monitoring of impact in both Canadian and African contexts.

Hope & Transformation

We believe in the potential for positive change, even in the most difficult circumstances, inspired by spiritual faith. Therefore, we promote long-term change over charity, focusing on transformation of systems, individuals, and lives.

Faith & Spiritual Integrity

Our work is rooted in a strong belief in God. We work for a greater purpose beyond our personal desires. Our decisions and actions reflect honesty, prayerful discernment, humility, and alignment with core values of Truth, Justice, love, and contentment.

Learning & Adaptability

We take a posture of humility and continuous improvement informed by local feedback, monitoring, and faith reflection. Thus, we undertake regular evaluation and adaptation of strategies to remain effective, relevant, and spiritually grounded.

Our Approach

At CPI, we believe in community-driven, values-based solutions. We don’t impose top-down programs; instead, we partner with local communities to co-create sustainable paths forward.

Our approach is built on three interconnected pillars:

  • Innovative Education: Using Computer-Assisted Learning to make quality education accessible and affordable for all ages
  • Personal Peace-Leadership: Fostering nonviolent conflict resolution, trauma healing, and values-based leadership from within communities
  • Economic Empowerment: Creating practical opportunities for food security and income generation through projects like beekeeping

We measure success not just in numbers, but in transformed lives, strengthened communities, and the sustainable systems we help establish. Every program is designed to eventually be community-led, ensuring lasting impact long after our direct involvement.
